Week 1: August 11-15
Monday, August 11: Getting to Know Mrs. Neilson: I introduced myself and the classroom. We also played "blue cards" to increase class unity.
Tuesday, August 12: Spelling Pre-Test, Editing Pre-Test, Introduce Ninja Mascot: Students took a spelling pre-test and an editing pre-test that will help me understand the students' learning needs. These cannot be taken outside of class.
Wednesday, August 13: Argumentative Writing Pre-Test: Students read an article about plastic bags and then had to write an argumentative essay about whether or not we should use plastic bags. This cannot be done outside of class.
Thursday, August 14: Introduce P.O.W.E.R. Writing: We went through a PowerPoint about the writing process (P.O.W.E.R) and The Six Traits of Good Writing.

Friday, August 15: Parts of Speech Collaborative Groups: Students got into groups and started to make a poster of one of the parts of speech. We will finish and present these posters on Monday, August 18.
